Bonded By Blood II: A Romance In Red available today!
Many years ago, I took on the arduous task of editor for a 'For the Luv' horror ezine called The Murder Hole. There was no monetary gratification for myself, for the woman who hosted the website, or for any of the contributors. Yet month after month I was overwhelmed with submissions and I still managed to put forth issues highlighting some of the best dark fiction out there. From well-established writers to semi-established writers working their way to the top, to newbies, I've watched over the years as many of the authors I published moved on to become award-winning novelists, mass-market novelists, even publishers and editors. It's kind of like watching your babies growing up to be successful in doing what they love and do best: writing.
That being said, I completely understand what Steven N. Marshall puts into his ezine each and every month. It takes a lot of dedication. It takes a lot of hard work. It requires enthusiasm and unconstrained loyalty to his chosen path, even in the face of adversity; perseverance overcoming animosity. And Steve manages to pull it off, putting out a new issue every month with style and flair, overwhelmingly denoting the true reasons he continues.
It's all about 'for the love of.'
The authors published by SNM every month demonstrate that same love and dedication. Reading the stories in this anthology, you can't help but see the love these writers have for their craft of writing. Their best efforts shine through brilliantly in every story, adding new twists to old plots, bending rules, breaking out of the proverbial 'box', showing the readers that not only do they love to write, but they write for a simple reason: They want to entertain you, the reader.
This yearly crowning achievement published by SNM is a work of love, devotion and commitment by the authors and editors for those who enjoy and appreciate the efforts put forth by all involved. It is an extraordinary accomplishment, packed with compelling horror and dark fiction that will keep you turning the pages long after you should have turned the lights out and gone to bed.
I was truly honored when Steve had approached me about doing the introduction for this anthology. The anthologies he puts out prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that the writing and creating of stories and the genuine objective to entertain isn't all about money. It's about literary achievement in the horror community and becoming known. It doesn't happen overnight!
The editors know this.
The contributors know this.
Now the readers know this.
It's all about telling a story.
And, most importantly
It's all about 'for the love of.'
I was very impressed by this anthology. The consistency of quality writing, they way that each story stands apart from one another, the literary prose, the haunting residual in the mind, makes this a perfect masterpiece of fiction. It is comprised of the Stories of the Month for a year and a half, over careful consideration and selection from a top-rated magazine that publishes cerebral, psychological horror; horror that isn't afraid to cross taboo thresholds, yet suggest something so menacing that the reader is grateful its kept offstage. Let these brave pioneers of the next Poe and Lovecraft generation whisper their dark secrets into your soul and haunt you in the most eerie, personal way: through the power of suggestion and the art of horrific eloquence. Clayton T. Stewert - Winnipeg, Manitoba
Clayton T. Stewart has been a performer since birth. There is a story of how he even entertained the other babies in the maternity ward.... in between feedings of course. Well Clayton grew up and craved an audience.
It was during his time at Glenlawn Collegiate Institute that he found the stage! He began to act and star in almost all of the productions put on by GCI during his time there.
He also began his short career as a Professional Magician known as "Clayton The Great" performing at The Red River Ex, with Children's Entertainer Al Simmons, Illusionist Sean Watson and for the likes of Wal-Mart and the Children's Wish Foundation.
Upon completion of High School Clayton was fortunate to land several extra roles in movies such as: Wishmaster 3, Robin Cook's Acceptable Risk and many other Big Budget Hollywood Movies that filmed here in Winnipeg. Recently Clayton has had roles in "GEEKSTERS", "BE YOUR OWN BOSS", "DENIZENS OF THE DEAD" and of course his leading role in "STAR WARS: THE EVIL WITHIN"
Being a pop culture junkie moved Clayton to become fascinated with movies and the making of them. So with the gift of a video camera he began his movie making career. Often the movies were short and usually only funny to him and his friends, but they slowly grew into more. Writing was also another passion Clayton developed and began writing scripts for movies he one day hoped to make. Scripts were not the only thing he wrote, he was also a published poet but movies were his real passion.
His first big movie project was for his History class in High School, where he and his friends went back in time to talk to ancient Renaissance Artists (sound familiar?). Entitled "History Dudes", the short film borrowed heavily from popular movies of the day but was a great accomplishment for the aspiring filmmaker obtaining permission to film at both the St. Norbert Ruins and The Museum of Man and Nature's Nonsuch Exhibit.
That fun little film gave him the itch to make more and he began convincing his friends to "star" in many short projects. One entitled "The Gang" (a Film Noir Vampire Movie) got an honourable mention from the National Screen Institute. He recently completed a documnetary on his own Pro-Wrestling training, which was called "Lord of the Ring: A Journey into the world of Pro-Wrestling"
One day he hopes to make big budget epics and hopefully meet the big name filmmakers that inspired him to get into the industry.

Why did I list all of the authors of the anthology? Because the stories are so great that EVERYONE should be recognized here! Within the pages of this gruesome anthology, you will discover real fear, horror, wickedness, blood -- and death. I enjoyed reading all the short stories, as well as interacting and speaking with all of the authors in past SNM interviews. Chere Rhodes - Rest in Peace
As a writer of horror, I spend a lot of time with my mind indulged in the darker side of life.
This of course is nothing more than a fantasy world, left behind when I close a book or turn off my computer.
Sometimes life is horrifying enough, and there is no need for fantasy...
I want to take this moment to send my condolences to Chere Rhodes' family and friends. Last year Chere was kind enough to send me a picture to Zombify, as we have done for so many others. I appreciated the time she took to do so.
Chere was the mother of two beautiful children, had a promising modeling career on the go and was a kind and wonderful woman many said lit up a room upon entrance. Chere died very tragically this past January. I thought I would simply take some time to share how truly sorry I was to hear this awful and startling news.

This of course is nothing more than a fantasy world, left behind when I close a book or turn off my computer.
Sometimes life is horrifying enough, and there is no need for fantasy...
I want to take this moment to send my condolences to Chere Rhodes' family and friends. Last year Chere was kind enough to send me a picture to Zombify, as we have done for so many others. I appreciated the time she took to do so.
Chere was the mother of two beautiful children, had a promising modeling career on the go and was a kind and wonderful woman many said lit up a room upon entrance. Chere died very tragically this past January. I thought I would simply take some time to share how truly sorry I was to hear this awful and startling news.

We are pleased to announce we have started a line of clothing called
Cheetham's Zombie's.
The initial release of 100 limited edition T-shirt's will occur on July 16th, 2008 and will be available for $24.99 Canadian each, plus S/H. Sizes available are Small, Medium and Large.
Only 100 will be printed, and the design will then be retired. Future designs will follow.
